I adopted a rescud dog and needed some help with his reactivity, barking and leash pulling. He did an amazing job helping Captain with leash pulling and addressing parts of his reactivity. We saw noticeable improvement in a short period of time, especially during walks. The techniques were easy to understand and apply in real-life situations, and the training was always calm, patient, and effective. This training truly improved both Captain’s behavior and my confidence as a handler. I never thought my puppy would make so much progress. I had no idea what to expect from just a few sessions. I never thought my puppy would listen to any commands outside, but now she is super attentive and listens to me outside even with a lot of distractions! Toni is amazing!!!! We adopted two dogs in less than a month with vastly different personality needs, and Joshua was able to help us with individualized training for each of them. Artemis is very puppy-ish and people-shy, and Bo Dai is bold and liked to resource guard. Joshua was able to help us bring them both into a comfortable rhythm at home, mostly by teaching my husband and me how best to relate to them. We had two wonderful dogs previously (one passed from cancer, the other lived to a ripe old age), and we still learned so much from Joshua. He's patient, brings a gentle energy, and listens well before offering solutions, so the solutions are effective. Artemis was scared to go in the crate and not particularly food-motivated, and Joshua helped us over a few sessions to problem-solve how to get her to enter on her own and without stress. I didn't think it could be done, and I had to take pictures as proof to show my husband. Meanwhile, through this training, we discovered just how eager to please Bo Dai is, and he's taken to every command quickly, through the steps Joshua showed us. If you feel uncomfortable with the dog trainers who use force on the animals to get them to "submit," I can't recommend the joyful approach of Mindful Training enough.
